Denise McGoldrick
Biography

Denise McGoldrick is an acrylic landscape painter raised in Oregon and now living in Boise, Idaho and Depoe Bay, Oregon. Both locations inspire her realistic land and seascapes. She grew up loving to draw and pursued that interest with a few art courses in college. Even when not painting, her love of color was constantly explored with interest in interior design and gardening.

After college, and for many years, art and its creation became background to life, career, and family, including caring for aging loved ones who have recently passed. Moments available for northwest travel and various artistic pursuits were happy surprises. Denise’s interest in painting reemerged when she accompanied her mother to a painting class her mother hesitated to attend alone. Interest became hobby, then passion. For many years Denise created art for friends and community members. It has only been the past few years that she has ventured into commerce with her art.

All aspects of painting from skill development to brush in hand time are now focal interests. As the world shed’s it’s pandemic limitations, her and her husband are returning to travel for fun and the opportunity to gather inspirational photo images.

Experimentation, curiosity and the discovery of landscape painting skills continues to evolve. She regularly studies the works of current contemporary artists and their use of color, the works of realism artists with their attention to detail and imagery, and the Hudson River School artists with their mastery of illumination. Her image choices are inspired by travels through the northwest states of Oregon, Idaho and Washington. Additionally, she now creates children’s fantasy paintings. What started with the creation of sizeable triptych murals for each of her grandchildren became a constantly requested item from others. Painting instruction of all subjects continues to be more self-taught than organized with a style and ability developed through experimentation and the personal study of her substantial collection of art books. She loves to learn from artists in all mediums and styles, both historical and current.

Recently Denise has donated and sold paintings in several local art auctions, including St. Mary’s Catholic School art auction(s) and Conservation Voters of Idaho (CVI). Now that she is introducing more of her work to the public, and is showing in local exhibits in Boise, Meridian, and Nampa Idaho and Depoe Bay and Lincoln City, Oregon. She is pledged to continue to make both monetary and art donations to art education programs and conservation issues.
